ODE TO YOUR NIPPLES

Many stanzas could be said
Just about your nipples!
How dark they are compared
To your other skin

How they both rest
Each in its own centre of
Equally dark circles dotted
With many tiny tubercles

It’s wonderful to see: how
They stand – excited when
Stroked; each beautiful and sweet
Like cherries crowning cupcakes

You alone know the feeling
The depth of intense pleasure
And enjoyment which flow
From their million live wires!

IMPROMPTU

I cross my heart and hope to die –
Was what he said to save his head.
He swore an oath he would not lie;
The truth he knew he freely said.
But in the circumstances at hand
No one would take his words to heart!

SOLDIER MAN

More often than not
On the streets of Naija,
Soldier man is not polite;
He’s spontaneous and curt
And brutal to the extreme.
He expects you to comply
With thunder in his voice!
God save you
You attempt
To wave reason in his face
God help you
Maybe that one’s a reasonable man!
